• Producing more UUM athletes to represent our country internationally.

• Ensuring the management of athlete development programmes is systematically implemented with the assistance from all stakeholders.

• Acting as a technical reference centre for sports management and development at the University.

• Coordinating all support services in various aspects such as coaching, management, training facilities, athlete welfare and governance at the University sports development stage.

• Preserving sports culture and healthy lifestyle among the UUM community.

• UUM Sports Centre operation established since 16th February 1984 at the temporary campus in Tanah Merah, Jitra, Kedah khown as Universiti Utara Malaysia Sports and Recreational Unit.

  Then in 1991, UUM Sports Centre were moved to the main campus in Sintok. Here, the UUM Sports Centre operation capability improved with conducive facilities provided at the new campus.

  Starting from 2002, the UUM Sports and Recreational Unit were given recognition as Universiti Utara Malaysia Sports Centre. This is in accordance to the progression and function managed currenlty by the Sports Centre.

• University Utara Malaysia Sports Centre is a centre under the jurisdiction of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni) was given the mandate and responsibility to manage, organize and regulate all sports and recreation programmes for university students and staff. This comprehensive and self-contained sports complex covers an area of 74 acres and provides 28 types of sports and recreation activities for students, staffs and outsiders.

  As a health and fitness-oriented unit, various programmes were arranged for students, who are the most important patrons, by offering a range of opportunities to utilize Sports Centre for exercises, recreation and sports activities.

  UUM Sports Centre also focuses and prioritize on participation of high performance sports programmes organized by Malaysian University Sports Council (MASUM) and Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) such as MASUM, SUKIPT, IMT-GT and others.

  The notion of " High Performance Sports " and " Sports for All " are the main focus for Sports Centre in managing and providing activities towards mental and pyhsical developments as the main medium along with the emphasis on academic excellence. With this concept, Sports Centre aim to create " Sports Culture" as a part of holistic life to imporve health, safety and pyhsical endurance.

• Processing and approving the booking application for the use of sports courts and equipment from students within 7 working days from the date the application is received.

• Provide results of renting or booking for sports facilities from external agencies within 7 working days after receiving the application and ensuring that all conditions and rules are complied with.

• Always willing to provide facilities and equipment that are conducive for students.

• Always assist in supporting all sports activities organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, especially external agencies and non-governmental organizations in general.

• Always ready to provide advisory services related to sports activities to patrons.

• Always support all sports-related activities organized by the University in an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle among the University community.
